About

Shane Dennehey

I started my career as a carpenter, I began by framing houses and eventually perfected my skill as a craftsman over seven years. I graduated into millwork and cabinetry and building exhibits for trade shows. During that time I completed an apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Carpenter in the North Texas Carpenter’s Union. Then, after 7 years in carpentry I decided to go back to school to pursue a career in art. I always had great interest in art and design, so I went to the Art Institute of Dallas to follow my dream of being an artist professionally.

I was still working as a carpenter and studying art when I designed the first Layered Cross. It was made as a gift, but when interest grew and several of my co-workers asked if they could buy one, I decided to make more. That was the beginning of Design by Shane Dennehey. Today, after 10 years of business, I’ve built and sold hundreds of Layered Crosses, varying in sizes from 6-inches tall to 12-feet tall.

I’ve also developed several other works of Christian Art, all with a central theme of displaying God’s message of faith, hope, and love in the homes, offices, and worship spaces of my customers.

Design by Shane Dennehey is still a side venture though. I’ve been working as a graphic designer for over 9 years now, and that work is still my passion and main source of income. If interested, you can see a sampling of my design work here: denneheydesign.com.

Thank you for your time.
